Call for applications for ten scholarships to participate in the new Master in Performing Arts organised by Azienda Speciale Palaexpo and the Academy of Fine Arts of Rome.
Mattatoio continues its education, research and production activities dedicated to Contemporary Performing Arts with the open call for applications to participate in the annual Level I Master in Performing Arts MAP_PA (Master Arti Performative Palaexpo e Accademia) which will start in the second half of January 2022. The Master is organised by Azienda Speciale Palaexpo and Academy of Fine Arts of Rome.
Twenty students will be admitted to the Master's course, ten of whom will be awarded with a scholarship. Applications must be submitted by 30 November 2021.
The aim of the Master is to offer a training course that, through the exploration of the performative languages of theatre, music, dance and visual arts, can bring participants towards new forms of artistic experimentation and interdisciplinary research.
The Master MAP_PA, which will take place in the spaces of Pelanda and in some classrooms of the Academy of Fine Arts, is aimed to artists involved in performing arts languages, to curators and theorists of contemporary art, to researchers and scholars interested in exploring the possibility that the concept itself of "performing art" can expand towards experiences and practices not necessarily linked to the usual ways of considering and setting up exhibitions and live shows.
The Master, co-directed by Cecilia Casorati, historian, art critic and director of the Academy of Fine Arts of Rome, and by Cesare Pietroiusti, artist and president of the Azienda Speciale Palaexpo, and curated by Ilaria Mancia, performing arts expert and curator at Mattatoio, will be developed through a series of workshops that will be led by artists, curators and national and international experts; numerous theoretical seminars will contribute to deepening the educational path in order to achieve a creative and critical vision.
The teachers who have already confirmed their participation are: Simone Aughterlony, Riccardo Benassi, Silvia Bottiroli, Ilenia Caleo and Silvia Calderoni, Piersandra Di Matteo, Roberto Fassone, Dora Garcia, Francesca Grilli, Chiara Guidi, Invernomuto, Myriam Laplante, Luca Lo Pinto, Teresa Macrì, Enrico Malatesta, Liliana Moro, Muta Imago, Cristina Kristal Rizzo, Alessandro Sciarroni, Xing (Silvia Fanti and Daniele Gasparinetti), Zapruderfilmmakersgroup.
