PRESENTATION OF THE ART MODULE - MASTER IN GENDER STUDIES AND POLICIES, ROMA 3

Tuesday 16 July,  6:00pm

What languages do female artists use in decolonising gender representation and in creating a new vision? What is the relationship between artistic practice, theory and political activism? How can one use life and one's own body as material for artistic composition? What are the ways in which art rewrites corporeality? With what tools should on explore the creation process outside the creator-genius myth?

The 14th edition of Short Theatre sees a renewal of the alliance between Short Theatre and Roma 3's Gender Studies and Policies Art Module, which will be crossing the festival in September with a path of vision and encounters on themes relating to marginalised cultures and the decolonisation of artistic practices, in close dialogue with cyberfeminism and with neomaterialist feminism.

Thanks to cooperation with the Azienda Special Palaexpo, Art Module curators Ilenia Caleo and Isabella Pinto will be presenting the modalities and themes of the course at the Pelanda on 16 July, exploring some of the aspects of the cultural vision that have emerged around the immense historical suppression of Italian colonisation useful for initiating a dialogue with the work of militant feminist and political scientist Françoise Vergès, a member of the “Décoloniser les arts” collective, who will also be taking part in Short Theatre 2019 and in the Art Module with a keynote address on Féminisme décoloniale.
