Workshops and lectures dedicated to the installation Intrude
curated by Laboratorio d’arte of the Palazzo delle Esposizioni
To tie in with the presentation of Amanda Parer's work Intrude, as part of the re-creatures programme at the Mattatoio, the Palazzo delle Esposizioni's Art Workshop has put together a cycle of encounters for children aged 5 and over.
The animal presences populating the Mattatoio over these summer months will include giant inflatable plastic sculptures depicting white rabbits from the Austrialian artist's installation. The innocent and reassuring imaginative world of children will interweave with the wild dimension of the animal world to prompt us to reflect on the impact that our actions have on the environment.
Inspired by the pages of the illustrated albums in the Art Bookshelf, a library specialising in international art publications for children, three different workshops are on offer to spend the summer together in the city under the banner of contemporary art.
Animal apparitions
27 July at 6.00pm max 12 children aged 5 and over
Wild books for "civilised people", sophisticated books for "wild people"... Looking at the vast range of publications on animal themes, we breathe life into real and imaginary creatures, starting with watercoloured blotches of colour and abstract cut-out shapes. Dreamlike, ambiguous figures dialogue with the creatures that breathe life into the re-creatures programme in an unexpected manner.
Beastly invasions
28 July at 6.00pm max 12 children aged 5 and over
Just as weird animal presences have taken possession of the Mattatoio's exterior spaces, try to imagine what could happen if hordes of mischievous animals were to invade our cities in an imaginary vengeance of nature on man. Urban scenarios for animation that take their cue from the illustrations in books without words.
AniMask
29 July at 6.00pm max 12 children aged 5 and over
Masks to build and wear in order to discover our feral nature. Are we or are we not also part of the animal kingdom? Characters from a fantastic forest inhabit the spaces of the Pelanda as in a tribal ritual, telling stories, playing hide-and-seek and frightening each other!
