What is the time of research and experimentation for you?
The time of my work changes, it adapts to the demands of research. Sometimes it is a stringent, punctual time, it has to be able to contain the start and end of something, thus a linear, orderly time that allows me to organize my mind. Other times, time opposes and becomes contrarily demanding of fluidity, a fluffy, distracted, dilated time that seeks in distraction “the ring that it does not hold”, to grab hold of and trust. It is a time of research that awaits the spark, that waits for something unexpected to happen and to transform thought and physical action.
In what way is your practice influenced by the space of an artistic residency?
An amenable, generous space open to take in something still unknown can, I think, be an excellent basis for the creation of new imaginations and shapes of thought. Remaining open to a different physical space and having the opportunity to be able to trust and to totally entrust oneself to it, corporal work and dialogue fuel one another in a mutual exchange between the outside and the inside. Mental visualization is modelled in a flowing manner and dresses the space, imparting concrete form to dialogue in reality.
How do care and artistic research interact?
It is an intrinsic dialogue that shifts attention from the ego to the other and from the other to the ego, in a ceaseless exchange where the other can be interpreted as a thing, a part, a living being or a non-living being, a voice, a movement, a gaze, a sound, a request, a real or an ineffable other. They dialogue as though they were water in the sea.
