From 5 to 15 September, Short Theatre, the international festival dedicated to contemporary creation and performing arts, returns to Rome for its 19th edition. An edition characterised by internationality, the stratification of languages, and the desire to meet the city and to traverse its space through the lens of artistic imagination, marking the important journey of Piersandra Di Matteo's artistic direction, which this year reaches its conclusion.
11 days of programming, 50 projects, 40 companies from Italy, France, Spain, Switzerland, Brazil, Denmark, Sweden, Rwanda, the United States, Germany, Canada, Palestine, and Mexico, will inhabit an urban network of 13 locations spread across 4 municipalities. From the festival's now established spaces, first and foremost La Pelanda - Mattatoio di Roma, to new, unexpected and historically rich locations such as the Monumental Cemetery of Verano, the banks of the Tiber River, the Laboratori di scenografia dei Cerchi of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma - continuing the collaboration begun in 2023 -, the Teatro di Documenti, a small wonder of scenographic architecture designed and built by the greatest Italian stage designer of the 20th century, Luciano Damiani, and the Teatro Cometa Off, a cultural reality of the territory that joins the already consolidated collaborations with Teatro India - Teatro di Roma, Angelo Mai, TeatroBasilica.
For the third year, Gucci confirms itself as Main Sponsor of the Festival, renewing its commitment to support and enhance creativity, culture and art.
Viscous Porosity is the title that accompanies this edition: a call to ignite perception on the interconnection between human, natural and social relations, on contagion and the capacity for mutual transformation; an invitation to train one's reading of the present by observing its criticalities, inconsistencies and forms of dissent.
